Missing the beginning of this year’s baseball season? Learn about another world event that disrupted America’s pastime. In 1918, fans could still hear the crack of the bat and they witnessed some amazing baseball. Yet, baseball existed in the shadow of America’s involvement in World War I. The government issued a work or fight order that removed many young players from their teams. Attendance dropped, games cancelled, and one famous team almost went out of business! Join Jim Triesler, the VWM’s Director of Education, as he explores baseball during World War I.
