David D’Arville Project

Natives of Richmond, Josh Shaffer and Dave D’Arville met in high school as members of the VCU Greater Richmond High School Jazz Band. After playing together through their high school years, Josh moved to Philadelphia in 2013 to study jazz drum set performance at Temple University’s Boyer School of Music. Dave followed suit a year later for jazz guitar. They have since become active members of the Philadelphia jazz scene. After years of playing together, Josh and Dave have come together with their newly formed band, The Josh Shaffer/Dave D’Arville Project. Drawing influence from jazz, soul, pop, and folk music, The Josh Shaffer/Dave D’Arville Project aims to use improvisational music to speak about current social and cultural issues.
