The Henrico Pops Chorus presents ‘Holidays Remembered” on the occasion of the choir’s silver anniversary on Tuesday the 10th of December at The Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs.

The concert is being conducted by Bobbie Moore and accompanied by Pat Wall. The evening will also feature Gray McCalley (drums) and Damien Muller (bass guitar), and Anita Tarbox (keyboard) with reprises of songs and solos sung in past concerts, with narrations by Garrett Chester.

The Henrico Pops Chorus came together as a small group sharing their passion for music back in 1995 and is today a 60-strong mixed choir. Bobbie Moore has been directing the chorus for all 25 years even through a bout with cancer in 2012. There are two other members who also have been with the group for the entire time. It is one of the foremost local polyphonic vocal ensembles. The county of Henrico Department of Recreation and Parks has and continues to sponsor the group.

These past twenty-five years have seen the choir grow in leaps and bounds as it sought to challenge itself further, expanding its repertoire while at the same time contributing to the volunteer sector in Richmond by singing at various retirement homes, civic events. and performing free concerts to full audiences for the formal concerts at Henrico Theatre or the Cultural Arts Center.

This concert “Holidays Remembered” will showcase the choir’s musical abilities since the program includes compositions that are varied in nature, from the subline (Walking in the Air, Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth) to the ridiculous (Christmas Shopping Blues, Sparklejollytwinklejingley) an audience sing-along of holiday favorites plus a visit from Santa. It is entertainment for all ages.
