Tamara Wellons brings her unique jazz musical concert SONGS FOR JANIE back to Firehouse for four performances in March and April 2019.

In SONGS FOR JANIE Tamara Wellons gives voice to the coming-of-age story of Janie Crawford, the central character in Zora Neale Hurston’s seminal novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” — about womanhood, independence, and self worth.

“Songs for Janie” began as a concept album that Tamara released in 2012. The stage production premiered in 2013 at the DC Black Theater Festival, and Firehouse produced it in 2016.
