Virginia Czech & Slovak Folklife Festival

Date(s)

  • October 20, 2018 | 11:00 am

Traditional music and dance, delicious food, Pivo (Beer), and more – a wonderful family festival that celebrates the culture and heritage of the many Czech & Slovak families that came to this region and settled on abandoned farmland after the Civil War. The home-cooked food is a BIG draw, with roast pork with Knedliky (dumplings) and sauerkraut, Klobasa (sausage), Zelniky (cabbage rolls), and fabulous baked goods and Kolace (pastries). There will be farm exhibits, live animals and genealogical exhibits. It all takes place on the grounds of the Prince George County Regional Heritage Center (the historic county courthouse & clerk’s office). You will want to visit the Czech & Slovak Gallery in the museum where there will be a special exhibit of beautiful Czech glass. There is no admission charge; you pay for food, beer. Parking is plentiful and golf carts shuttle you to the festival.
