11th Annual Paddle-or-Battle on the Appomattox River

If you love being on the water, this is a not-to-miss event! You are welcome to enjoy a leisurely paddle, or a fun battle race on the Appomattox River. It all begins on historic Pocahontas Island in Petersburg and ends at Hopewell City Marina – a 10-mile course. There is also a 2-mile course going from Pocahontas to Roslyn Landing and back to Pocahontas. It is flat water in the tidal section of the river. Included is a T-shirt, continental breakfast, and picnic lunch at the Finish Line Celebration. Friends of the Lower Appomattox River is building trails, improving parks and expanding river access.
