5th Annual River City Golf Classic

Organizers for the River City Golf Classic presented by the City of Richmond, Economic Development Authority, Enrichmond and SMG Richmond, announced the tournament will be held at Magnolia Green Golf Club in Moseley VA. The 5th Annual River City Golf Classic will again offer golfers, community
leaders, fans, business owners and professionals the opportunity to join the Washington Redskins organization for a day filled with golf, socializing and fun on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
The tournament coincides with the arrival of Redskins training camp at the SMG-managed Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center and adds to the excitement and anticipation of football season. Head coach Jay Gruden, president Bruce Allen, voice of the Redskins Larry Michael and Super Bowl MVP, Doug Williams have participated for most of the tournaments existence and are expected to take part again this summer.
Washington Redskins’ Chief Content Officer, Larry Michael adds, “The River City Classic has quickly become the Redskins Kickoff event for training camp each year. It’s a great chance for fans to take part in a fun day of golf and fellowship with the Washington Redskins Coaches, and especially gratifying is the fact the tournament benefits the great work done by The Friends of Bon Secours Training Center.”
The tournament supports year-round youth programs held at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center through the City of Richmond’s non-profit arm Enrichmond. Over the past two years, the Friends of Bon Secours Training Center has supported programs including Richmond Parks and Recs youth football and cheer event, Richmond Public Schools athletics and events among others. The organization offsets costs by purchasing equipment and services needed such as security, soccer goals, lining of the fields and other necessities.
Tee off is 9:00 am preceded by check in and a buffet breakfast and followed by the tournament and awarding of prizes and golfer’s gifts at the conclusion of play. Play will be a par or better format and foursomes will consist of three golfers matched with a member from the Washington Redskin organization.
