An Afternoon of Jazz – The Charles Overton Group – Presented by Metro Richmond Chapter NAASC

The sky is the limit for classical and jazz harpist Charles Overton, a twenty-three-year-old musician who hails from Richmond and attended Richmond Montessori and Westminster Academy. Before Overton embarked on a whirlwind path of specialized private and master classes, countless institute workshops and summer music festivals, he started with the Richmond Harp Institute, Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Richmond American Youth Harp Ensemble and the Richmond Academy of Music. Charles has traveled all over the world participating in both ensemble and solo performances in London, Tokyo, Milan, Luzern and Rome and has played America’s finest concert halls including Corson Hall in Interlochen, MI, Carnegie Hall and David Gefen Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, NY, and Symphony Hall in Boston, MA.

Charles stays busy with a jammed-packed appearance schedule performing classical, jazz and contemporary music with regular engagements with the Boston Symphony and his quartet Charles Overton Group. The Charles Overton Group recently released Convergence in 2017 which is available on iTunes, Spotify and by CD.

The Charles Overton Group will perform Sunday, June 24 at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen at 4pm. This event is open to the public and is presented by Richmond Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College with proceeds benefitting The Della Bannister Book Scholarship Fund.
General admission tickets are $65.00 and a limited number of Meet and Greet tickets are available at $100 which include entry to a wine and cheese reception with the Charles Overton Group immediately following the performance.
