Because I Can, Sir! is a one-woman musical comedy about Susan Braden’s battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare form of cancer, with her high-spirited arsenal of music, comedy, chemotherapy, and faith.

Susan Braden is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is a soprano concert artist, voice teacher, pianist, composer, arranger, and actor. Susan has performed all over the continental United States and internationally. She sang the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Olympic Festival, which she later discovered was not the actual Olympics, and to tour with the Johnny Mann (Theodore from the Chipmunks) Singers. She produced the Original Living Christmas Tree, alongside the ADA-compliant Original Living Christmas Ramp, at First Baptist Church, Van Nuys and sang at a gala in Houston, TX for President Reagan and his wife, and at a gala in Little Rock, AR for then-governor Bill Clinton.

Susan now teaches voice lessons and workshops, and guest directs choirs in the Mid-Atlantic region. Currently, she maintains the Susan Braden Music Studio in Richmond, VA for private voice and acting lessons for adult, college, and high school students. Susan serves as a Patient Advocate and a Research Advocate for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
