Call for Entries: “Of Mystery and Imagination”

Crossroads Art Center in partnership with The Poe Museum announce an open call to artists for “Of Mystery and Imagination.” A juried exhibition celebrating the influence of Edgar Allen Poe. Any original 2D or 3D work will be considered for this exhibit All accepted artworks will be exhibited online on buyRVAart.com and some pieces will be exhibited live at Crossroads Art Center. A portion of proceeds from this exhibition will benefit The Poe Museum.
ENTRY FEE: The submission fee is nonrefundable $25 (U.S.) for up to 3 entries.
HOW TO ENTER: All submissions must be submitted in person during the specified Submission Dates/Hours to Crossroads Art Center at 2016 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, Virginia 23230.
Completed entry forms along with the $25 entry fee are required to complete submission. The entry fee can be paid beforehand or at time of submission.
DISPLAY INFORMATION:
All hanging work must be wired for hanging with professional-grade wire. Screw eyes are accepted, but D-rings are preferred. Pieces with saw tooth hangers will not be accepted. Ensure corners of frames, whether metal or wood, are tightly joined and have no scuffs, scraped and chips.
IMAGE PREPARATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Artists with accepted artworks will be required to prepare and send digital files of entries for the online exhibition and promotional purposes. Digital files must meet the following specifications.
• Files must be in JPEG or PNG format with resolution of 300 dpi and the longest dimension being no more than 6” and saved at maximum quality level.
• Images should be clear and in focus. This represents your work and how it is displayed online.
• Images should be labeled accordingly: Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price.
ARTISTS NOTIFIED: Sunday, November 10, 2019
SALES: All work must be for sale. Artists will receive 70% of sale price. A commission of 15% of the sales price will be paid to Crossroads Art Center/buyRVAart.com and 15% of sales price will be received by The Poe Museum.
LIABILITY AND AGREEMENT: Crossroads Art Center will accept only original fine art and photography, handcrafted by the artist. The gallery reserves the right to refuse delivered artwork if the frame is in poor condition, or if the work is not properly wired. Signing the entry form denotes agreement to the terms and conditions as stated in the entry information.
ONLINE EXHIBITION DATES: November 15, 2019 – January 5, 2020
LIVE EXHIBITION DATES: Works selected for the LIVE exhibition will be hung in Classroom Two at Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, Virginia.
