Join renowned theological scholars and historians to discuss the religious context of Virginia in 1619, its impact on people of color, and the evolution of a religious and culturally diverse United States in the 21st century. This summit explores the African faith journey of over 400 years, beginning in 1619 when the first Africans were enslaved and forcibly migrated to the Virginia colony. The 2019 Commemoration is an occasion not only to appreciate the past, but also for reflection, repentance, reconciliation and healing.
