Jonathan Meadows Live at Upper Shirley

Date(s)

  • January 21, 2017 | 1:00 pm

Jonathan Meadows, lead singer / bassist of The Congress, returns to Upper Shirley! This Richmond native has been touring throughout the states for years, living in Denver, CO for a time and spending countless hours on the road pursuing his craft. His voice has a soulful viberance to it, the kind that can erupt so unexpectedly into such raw and confident emotion that tingles are sent throughout his audience – just listen to his cover of “Killing Me Softly” and you’ll see what we mean. Yet despite all his wanderings, he has always kept Virginia in his heart, which is evident from his lyrics in “Keep Virginia” off The Congress’ first album. (Their sophomore album was just released this past September!) We can all use a little congressional support from time to time. So join us at Upper Shirley this Saturday, grab a bottle of one of our award-winning wines, and relax as the singer of the house rocks your gypsy soul.

Award-winning wines available all day in the tasting room, open 11-5pm, with lunch from 11-3pm and small plates from 11-4pm. Located 20 minutes from Richmond or Williamsburg on the James River, just off the Capital Trail.
