Remembering World War II: Rosie the Riveter
Date(s)
- April 7, 2019 | 2:00 pm
Ages 13+. Join us each month as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of World War II. With the advent of World War II, women flooded the workforce to fill the jobs in offices, factories and schools that men vacated when they joined the armed forces. The manpower needed to fight necessitated a break-down of traditional family structure and gendered roles, which had immediate and far-reaching consequences. From working on aircraft and ships in Hampton Roads to clerical work at the state level, women helped run the war machine from the home front. Information: 652-3409.
