Ages 13+. Join us each month as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of World War II. World War II presented an enormous threat to the cultural heritage of Europe and Asia. There was a concerted effort by the U.S. military to protect cultural objects and historic buildings from damage and theft. This led to the creation of the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives Section (MFAA). At the forefront of this group was a handful of dedicated service members known today as the “Monuments Men”. Throughout the war, and against tremendous odds, this small group was successful in their efforts to preserve thousands of years of cultural heritage.
