Break out of the workweek routine with a dose of hot verse at Firehouse! Featuring two showcase poets, an open mic sign up for those with a verse or two to drop themselves, and a cash bar with happy hour specials, it’s a great way to make the most of a long day.
This month, we have two guest poets with us: Stan Galloway and Mark Fitzgerald!
Stan is the founder and director of the Bridgewater International Poetry Festival held annually at Bridgewater College. His poetry has been published at length online and in print, including 3 chapbooks and one full collection, Just Married.
Mark Fitzgerald is the author of two books of poetry, Downburst (Cinnamon Press, 2019) and By Way of Dust and Rain (Cinnamon Press, 2010, 2019). His work has appeared in various periodicals, including Santa Clara Review, Slipstream, Crab Creek Review, and Beltway Poetry Quarterly. He has also been published in several anthologies, including Scratching Against the Fabric (unbound CONTENT), What Lies Beyond the Frame (unbound CONTENT), and Only Connect (Cinnamon Press). Mark has studied in Strasbourg, France and won a fellowship to pursue his writing at Oxford. He teaches writing and literature at the University of Maryland and was recently awarded a writing fellowship from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
