Balance your life with a romantic comedy, bluegrass to help veterans, a celebration of Hispanic culture, arts galore, and a thought-provoking film on Nazi-era resistance. “What’s Booming RVA: Qué Pasa, Sylvia?”


“Sylvia”

Henrico Theatre Company presents the A. R. Gurney romantic comedy about a dog and the drama he brings to a marriage. Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan as empty nesters. Greg’s career is winding down, while Kate’s career is beginning to offer more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found, “Sylvia,” according to her name tag. Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife.

RVA Bluegrass Jam

Twenty bluegrass and Americana bands on multiple stages, open jams, food trucks, adult and NA beverages. All proceeds go to Richmond Fisher House, a home away from home for the families of veterans and active-duty soldiers recuperating at Richmond VA Medical Center, and Liberation Veteran Services, which provides housing and care for veterans in crisis. FREE, donations encouraged.

Free Screening of “The Fishing Place” from Rob Tregenza

Praised for striking cinematography, visual artistry, and compelling performances, “The Fishing Place” explores loyalty, survival, and moral ambiguity. Set during the German occupation of Norway, the film follows a woman imprisoned by the Nazis. A German officer secures her release and forces her to spy on a local priest suspected of resistance activities.
