RVA First Friday Spring Season Kickoff
Stroll the art galleries along and around Broad Street, plus restaurants, shops, and other organizations. Presenting live music, special events, culinary and libation highlights, workshops, and oodles of art.
April 3, beginning at 5 p.m. – times vary at the many venues around downtown Richmond.
Highlights include:
- Exhibition Opening. Featuring works from multiple artists as part of Black Queer GRITS (Girls Raised in the South), celebrating the power of artistic expression as tools for reflection, resistance, and collective healing. Reception includes performances from some of the artists. Exhibition through April 17. April 3, 5 to 8 p.m., at Art 180’s Atlas Gallery, Richmond.
- First Friday Art Trolley: Gallery5 Night. The trolley shuttles riders to First Friday exhibits, with entertainment on board. Hop on for Jazz Night with Johnny Hargrove and Willie DE, in the spirit of Gallery5’s Fourth Friday Jazz Nights, honoring the history of Jackson Ward as “Harlem of the South.” See web site for parking and pick-up points. FREE. April 3, 6 to 8 p.m., in the Arts District, Richmond.
- Closing Reception. Meet featured artist Helene Ruiz and discuss her exhibition, “Untitled Stories,” paintings reflecting a woman’s story and her belief in justice, equity, and the power of giving back. April 3, 6 to 9 p.m., at Anne’s Visual Art Studio Gallery, Richmond.
- First Fridays at the VMHC. Free museum admission, family-friendly activities, live music, food trucks. FREE. April 3, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, Richmond.
Dominion Energy Family Easter
Spend the day playing games, creating crafts, and enjoying live entertainment on three stages. Plus meet the Easter Bunny, baby farm animals, magical princesses, Richmond’s own Nutzy and Nutasha, and local heroes and helpers, like firefighters, EMTs. and other public safety professionals.
