Make the holidays less stressful with these two recipes: a festive cranberry-brie crostini appetizer and sangria. The sangria was created with Hanukkah in mind, but its deliciousness knows no faith boundaries!

Cranberry-brie crostini appetizer

With just three ingredients, you can pull together an impressive appetizer perfect for holidays or dinner parties. The tangy cranberries cut through the richness of the cheese to create a balanced bite. This quick appetizer can be easily doubled to feed a crowd.

3-Ingredient Cranberry-Brie Crostini

Serves 12

Active Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 12 1/4-inch-thick slices whole-grain baguette, lightly toasted
  • 1/3 cup canned whole-berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 ounces Brie cheese, cut into 12 pieces
  • Chopped fresh chives for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Position rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler to high.
  2. Place baguette slices on a baking sheet. Dollop each with a generous 1 teaspoon cranberry sauce. Top each with one piece Brie. Broil until the cheese has melted, 1 to 2 minutes. Sprinkle with chives, if desired.

A festive sangria recipe

During Hanukkah there are eight nights of celebrating to do, so it only feels right to have a signature cocktail on hand for any planned or unplanned gatherings that come your way. Make that signature cocktail this festive sparkling wine sangria. Gently spiked with pear liqueur and filled with fresh pear slices, it’s a holiday twist on the classic pitcher drink that always pleases a crowd.

Sparkling Pear Hanukkah Sangria

Serves 6 to 8

Ingredients:

  • 1 (750-mL) bottle prosecco, cava, or other dry white sparkling wine, chilled
  • 1 1/2 cups pear liqueur, chilled
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 1 to 2 lemons)
  • 3 medium green pears, such as D’Anjou or Bartlett, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups seltzer or club soda, chilled
  • Ice (optional)

Directions:

  1. Combine the prosecco, pear liqueur, lemon juice, and pear slices in a large pitcher. Top with the seltzer. Pour into glasses with or without ice.

Recipe note: Use St. Germain elderflower liqueur if pear liqueur is unavailable.
