Music speaks volumes, of love and grief, inspiring us to change or simply bringing us joy. Boomer presents four different musical performances, including the new “Loving v. “Loving v. Virginia”

Richmond Symphony and Virginia Opera present the highly anticipated world premiere of Damien Geter’s “Loving v. Virginia,” an operatic retelling of a true story. A young couple’s interracial marriage in 1958 sparks a case that leads to the Supreme Court and a victory for civil rights in the United States.

May 9 to 11 at Carpenter Theater, Richmond.

“Story of a Band” with Ron Moody

Known for his part in Ron Moody and the Centaurs, Moody has authored his first novel, “Forever the Constellations.” The story follows five high school friends who form a band in the 1960s, cut a local record, and are signed to a national record label.

Carrie Brockwell at Pocahontas Premieres

The outdoor concert series from Virginia State Parks kicks off with Chesterfield country musician and American Idol golden ticket winner Carrie Brockwell, with opening act by Hazi, another Season 20 golden ticket winner.

“Songs Without Words” Mother’s Day Concert
