This week, it’s all about the holidays – in a diversity of forms: comedy, history, and two favorite holiday performances. All in “What’s Booming RVA: Holiday Laughs, Performances, and Lessons.”

A Vieri Mieri Fieri Holiday Extravaganza: REDEMPTION (For Charity)

Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m., at Coalition Theater, Richmond

Two comedic Guy Fieri impersonators mix audience participation, holiday magic, and a heaping helping of food celebrity impersonations. All proceeds benefit MAD RVA to help those in need.


“The Nutcracker”

Dec. 8 to 24, at Dominion Energy Center, Richmond

Richmond Ballet revives the choreography of Stoner Winslett in the classic ballet production, accompanied by the Richmond Synphony.


Christmas Through the Centuries

Dec. 9, noon to 7 p.m., at Henricus Historical Park, Chester

The 17th through 20th centuries in England, the American colonies, and the United States transformed Christmas into what we know today. Explore what Christmas looked like, smelled like, and sounded like to Virginians throughout this time. In the evening, candles, fireplaces, and bonfires will illuminate and warm.


Winter Wander

Dec. 10, noon to 4 p.m., along Clay Street, Richmond

The historic Court End neighborhood hosts the Richmond Night Market vendors and performances, and serves as a hub for tours and shuttle service to other tours. FREE admission at historic sites, including The Valentine, John Marshall House, American Civil War Museum’s White House of the Confederacy, Monumental Church, Masons’ Hall, St. Paul’s Church, The Poe Museum, and The Valentine First Freedom Center.


Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical

Dec. 12 to 17 at Altria Theater, Richmond

The classic holiday tale comes to stage, including memorable music, spectacular sets, and beloved characters – from the Grinch to Max to Cindy Lou Who.
