- RVA Green Drinks. Celebrate Earth Day and learn about regional conservation efforts with Parker Agelasto, executive director of the Capital Region Land Conservancy. April 16, 5:30 p.m., at The Hof, Richmond.
- Vernal Pool Discovery. Discover the hidden wonders of the park’s temporary seasonal wetlands – what makes them special and why they are essential. Registration required. April 18, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Powhatan State Park, Powhatan.
- The Earth Day Buy Nothing Event. Donate items that no longer serve you – or don’t – and take whatever you need, whether you donate or not. April 18: donations, 10 a.m. to noon; event runs till 2 p.m., at First UU, 1000 Blanton Ave., Richmond.
- Earth Day at the SMV. Nearly 30 community partners present hands-on activities to help you learn about watersheds, forestry, native plants, conservation efforts, recycling, bike infrastructure, floodplains, birds, and more. April 18, noon to 6 p.m., at the Science Museum of Virginia, Richmond.
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Regatta. Turn everyday recycled materials into mini boats and complete challenges. Using items like bottles, cartons, cardboard, and caps, participants will design and build their own vessel while learning how reusing materials helps protect our waterways and wildlife. All ages. The park also presents Earth Week projects throughout the week. April 18, 2 to 4 p.m., at Pocahontas State Park, Chesterfield.
- Venturing into Eco-Horror. Profs & Pints Richmond presents an Earth Day exploration of a genre focused on humanity’s troubled relationship with the natural world, with Joshua Barton, lecturer in English at Virginia Commonwealth University and scholar of horror. April 22, 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Triple Crossing Beer – Fulton, Richmond.

Take in the beauty of green spaces – private landscapes, public gardens and historic sites – in Richmond and throughout the commonwealth.

Grand Opening: The Skipwith-Roper Homecoming
