Bevell's Model Train Display

By Boomer Staff | December 14th, 2016

Over the years, the magical Lionel train display at Bevell’s Hardware in Blackstone, Virginia, has grown from two trains and a bit of scenery to numerous trains – including one with 50 cars – and 12 tracks surrounded by snowy villages, farms and more picturesque scenes. Bobby Daniels, Bevell’s owner, created the display in the late 1970s. Now, each year, with the help of the store’s crew and other locals, Daniels puts together the 20-foot-wide by 58-foot-long display that has provided entertainment for visitors from near and far. The free display is open to the public Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 3 p.m., through Jan. 8 (closed on holidays).
