National Doughnut Day

By Jared Ross | June 3rd, 2016

Happy National Doughnut Day, everyone! Or, for the uninitiated, the first Friday in June.

For those curious as to the reason for the celebration (to be honest, do you need a reason to celebrate doughnuts?), the holiday is to commemorate the Salvation Army Lassies, the women who served doughnuts to soldiers in World War I.

In observance of this very important national holiday, the following doughnut shops are offering some very sweet specials.

Country Style Donuts: Receive a free 12-ounce coffee or doughnut with any purchase. (Located at: 4300 Williamsburg Road and 8902 W. Broad Street)

Duck Donuts: Receive a free doughnut with the use of this coupon. Additionally, a portion of every Duck Donuts sale will benefit Donuts of Hope, a nonprofit that supports veterans with resources and advocacy programs. (Located at: 1601 Willow Lawn Dr #130)

Dunkin’ Donuts: Receive a free doughnut with the purchase of any drink. (Find your nearest location here.)

Krispy Kreme: Receive a free doughnut with the purchase of any drink. (Find your nearest location here.)

Sugar Shack: Receive a free doughnut if you come in wearing a Sugar Shack shirt. (Located at: 1001 N. Lombardy Street and 1501 N. Parham Road)

Sweet Shop Donuts Cafe: Receive a free glazed doughnut with any purchase. (Located at: 1800 S. Creek One)

The Treat Shop RVA: Free glazed doughnut for all customers, no purchase necessary. (Located at: 6114 Jahnke Road)
