Richmond Region Tourism recently rolled out a mobile passport to support its Richmond Region Beer Trail. Residents and visitors can download the passport for free and check in at breweries along the trail to collect points and earn prizes. After checking in at five trail breweries, users can win a free Richmond Region Beer Trail hat or beanie.

Listings for participating breweries include a photo, description, map link, contact information, website, and hours, along with the check-in option.

The Richmond beer trail originally launched in 2016. Local breweries support the region’s economy and quality of life, according to Richmond Region Tourism leaders. Across the state, Virginia’s craft breweries generate $1.5 billion in economic impact.

Richmond Region Tourism also offers physical maps at visitor centers and local breweries. The physical maps, which can also be accessed online, include additional breweries as well as notes about the breweries’ dog-friendly steps and the availability of food and other libations.

Richmond Region Tourism includes the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, and New Kent as well as the city of Richmond, the city of Colonial Heights and town of Ashland. Only breweries within those localities are included in the trail, which is also not comprehensive.

Users can claim prizes at the Richmond Region Tourism’s Visitor Center located at the Robinson House beside the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Hats and beanies can be mailed to visitors.
