Earth Day Events, April 20 and 22

Honor our Earth at events throughout the region – and the state – including:

Earth Day Green Drinks with Capital Region Land Conservancy. Local beers, fellow conservation supporters, and updates on regional conservation projects. April 20, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Legend Brewing, Richmond.

Earth Day at Virginia State Parks. Pick from among over 40 events, including habitat and crafting workshops, nature journaling, hiking, bird watching, and volunteer opportunities. All are centered on the theme “Invest in Our Planet,” highlighting the importance of dedicating time and resources to understand critical environmental issues working together to mitigate the impact of climate change on our communities. April 22, at 41 state parks, Virginia.

RVA Earth Day Festival. Local vendors, live music, local food and drink, and free demonstrations, benefiting Studio Two Three. BYO light-colored T-shirt or tote to screen print your chosen Earth Day design. April 22, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Bryan Park, Richmond.

Free Community Day for Nature and Healing. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers admission on Earth Day, April 22, in honor of Jonah Holland, a garden employee who was killed by a motorist while cycling last year. There will be a free yoga class, music by Holy River, and food trucks. April 22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Richmond.

Earth Day Festival, Henrico. Live music, food trucks, activities for all ages. Learn about sustainability initiatives and resources from two dozen exhibitors. April 22, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Deep Run Park, Henrico.

Earth Day Celebration at the SMV. Explore sustainability, natural resources, and environmental science at the museum that knows how to make learning fun for all ages. Interactive exhibits, demos, and activities. Community partners offer information on local topics. April 22, noon to 5 p.m., at the Science Museum of Virginia, Richmond.

Powhatan Earth Day Celebration. Kids’ activities, educational exhibits, Earth-friendly exhibitors and more. April 21, 4 to 6 p.m., at Powhatan Courthouse Green in the Village, Powhatan.

Bluegrass Jam to Benefit Military Veterans and Families

April 22, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at American Legion Post 354, Midlothian

Enjoy 20 of the region’s best bluegrass and Americana bands: Tara Mills Band, Cary Street Ramblers, Josh Grigsby and County Line, Cook County Bluegrass, Slack Family Bluegrass Band, and more. All raising money for the Richmond Fisher House and Liberation Veteran Services. Plus local craft beverages and food trucks. Shuttles from James River High School to ensure plenty of easy parking. FREE, donations encouraged.

Wild & Weird Festival

April 22 and 23 at Fine Creek Brewing, Powhatan
